U-24 FILM EXTRACT: Initial Ideas Thursday, 8 January 2009 Initial Ideas Set in rural landscapes, focusing around a young traveling boy, known only as a "The Pikey Boy" by school peers. Coming from a very close knit family his life is planned out before he knew it himself. His Dad, a former Bare Knuckle Boxing champion is now injured due to a fight that got nasty, is certain that his son will follow his footsteps and re-instate the family name in the boxing community. This however is not what the boy wants to do, he has a strong talent and doesnt want to be dragged along in the same light as his parents, ostracised by the public for there different culture and fighting to survive. He decides to pursue this ambition in secret, away from his family, in fear of upsetting them. Romance and violence ensue.
